    Default Blend Door Actuator

    Blend door actuator

Well it has been a little cold here in CT, I have had an issue with the Intrepid, when I would do a check of the ATC it would come back with 23 (blend door actuator).

What this little pain in the ass does is blend cold/hot air inside the car, well mine didn’t, when it is 15 degrees outside, its 15 degrees inside, and you guessed it, no defrost. I have been lucky, I work 6pm to 6am so it was not really an issue, I wanted to fix it but it was not on my top 10 things to do. We have had the chance of snow for a few days now, never did happen, but I wanted to get it fixed, so I call the stealership and order it up, I picked it up today and started working.

Here is what I got on the ATC after the test

    This is the new part

    Pop the hood and start

Have to get down there to remove the connectors from the battery, yes there is a reason for that, will discuss later

Do you have any idea how small an area that this bastard sits in, well here you go

Now I am 6’7” with big hands, you know what that means, not a fun job

Look how far back that little POS is

Well at this point I called Steve to vent a little, I was pissed that they would put an important part of my Intrepid in such a small area to work in

Well I finished with enough time to go back to work, only difference this time was that I had heat.

I hate the whole working with small spaces, but that does seem like "fun" to replace. Atleast you have heat now! That is an awesome CD changer, I never noticed it before.

At least you got yours fixed, I got code 24 for the mode door actuator and replaced it twice. Still get the dam code and the air never blows outta the correct vents.

When We did bobbys special it was a Pita to do. I'm almost dreading to do mine, since If its on floor I can hear it start to leak to defrost almost as its sticking but no codes.

Well I screwed up and removed the mode door by mistake, then looked farther back and saw the little bastard just sitting there. I think the mode door was easy compaired to the blend door, from a big hands view.

How do you do code checks on the ATC anyways?

Set the temp to 75 degrees, I do this while the Intrepid is started, then press the floor button (down) then the floor defrost (up) and the defrost (up) (all three at the same time) until it starts to flash, then you will hear it testing the air through the system, at the end if there is no problem then it will stay at 75 degrees not flashing, if it does post a code it will do so like in one of the pics (23)
