So Last night I went out and bought a new head unit and installed it. While I was at it I ripped apart my doors to rewire my front speakers. The way the Ram door panels are installed are 3 screws and about 20 of those little christmas tree fasteners. The door panels werent designed very well so every time you pull the panels, 90% of them stay in the door.

Well I no longer have my panel popper since I broke it and havent replaced it yet so I just grabbed my leathermans and used the needle nose pliers on them to pull all the fasteners out of the door. Once I had them all out I went inside to eat. So me being me decided to put them on the roof for some stupid reason.

So I eat, come outside and finish up, blah blah blah. by the time I was done it was pitch black, I couldnt find them but I figured they were somewhere in the truck in the mess. I took the truck on about a half hour test drive to make sure everythings working ok, (didnt want to wake the neibors) Everything works fine.

So I get up, get ready, and leave for work. Get about 3/4 of the way there and I hear this clunk clunk clunk CLUNK... Now I remember where I left them :banghead: Well I figured they hit bed/bedcover and bounced over the side. There goners now. I wasnt pulling over on the highway to find them. Get to work and go take a look. They tumbled acroos the roof and fell in between the bed and the cab, still open. They got caught on a little metal tab.

They must really like me because as soon as I reached for them they pretty much fell into my hand. It put a smile on my face. I love these things.

Good thing for them being all stainless too, It rained all night.

Well just my useless story for the day.

Enjoy

I have a couple of them, my favorite being a gerber set that I got so long ago that I honestly cant remembr what year it was or where I got them

Last year I was using them in a very stupid way (it involved tightening them in a bench vice) and ended up breaking one side of the pliers off

Was going to just toss them but then thought to call Gerber since they are covered by lifetime warranty. No hassle return, just mail them back and one week later a brand new set (updated current model) shows up in my mail, they even sent the other pair back as well in a new case! Not even a question on how they were broken.

To say the least they won a customer for life

That's interesting. I've got a pair of Gerber pliers that I've had for almost 10 years now. They won't close properly because I tried to cut a piece of wire that was too hard for the material and it dented the wire cutter. I might have to get them to refurb it.

Don't even need to call them, just send it to the address on this page http://www.gerbergear.com/index.php/service_and_support/cat_id/6

If it is that old it will probably be like mine where they dont even try to repair it and instead just replace. The only difference between my old and new is that the new one has a safety lock system.

Thanks for the link. I think I'll be mailing them a package soon...

Thats funny that you guys mention the lifetime warranty thing on those Gerber tools.

Last night my buddy came over for a few minutes to make fun of me for having to drive the Olds again and to check out the Dart since I had it pulled out of the garage.

When he got out of his truck, his 5 year old set of Gerbers fell off of his belt and landed directly behind the 33'' BFG A/T on the front of his F150.
When he was leaving, he backed directly over them.
They're now totally mangled, you can't even open them anymore. I told him that I highly doubted they'd replace them under the lifetime warranty, since "being run over" was not exactly a suggested use. :P

He called Gerber up from work this morning (where he works sells Gerber multifunction tools, so hes got access to some kind of special service number to call I guess) and they told him to send the tool back, they'd replace it for him, no problem about them being run-over.

Guess they're one frigin worthwhile tool to buy if you're going to use them.
